Historic Cornish Barn Transformation

A comprehensive renovation of a traditional Cornish stone barn, expertly transformed from an unstable structure into a stunning modern home. This North Cornwall project began with essential structural stabilization of the original stone walls, followed by complete roof replacement to ensure the building's longevity.

The exterior renovation includes striking black cladding that creates a contemporary contrast with the preserved stonework, while dramatic floor-to-ceiling windows across the front elevation flood the interior with natural light and frame views of the surrounding Cornish countryside.

Internal works included full modernization throughout. This project demonstrates our expertise in sensitively converting traditional Cornish agricultural buildings into exceptional residential spaces.

Garden Annexes and Garages – Quality Outbuildings Designed for Cornwall

These projects demonstrate Runnalls Construction's commitment to creating high-quality, versatile spaces that respect their Cornish surroundings. The first two-storey build thoughtfully combines modern larch cladding on visible elevations with traditional black farm-style cladding where it meets the hedge, ensuring it sits naturally in the landscape while maximizing efficiency with solar panels and clever use of roof space. The second, a substantial 9m x 6m oak-framed structure with Siberian larch cladding, provides spacious first-floor accommodation above an enclosed garage and two-bay carport. Both showcase our dedication to quality materials, thoughtful design, and creating functional spaces that enhance Cornish properties while blending seamlessly with their environment.

Making sure outside is as good as inside!

These projects showcase our approach to outdoor spaces—combining traditional Cornish craftsmanship with contemporary design. From classic drystone walls that anchor properties in the landscape to striking timber and steel retaining walls with integrated lighting that create drama and definition, we handle every aspect of groundworks with the same attention to detail as our buildings. Whether it's sculpting sloping lawns, installing gravel driveways that manage the Cornish weather, or adding those final touches that transform a site, we create outdoor spaces that are creative, practical, and built to last. Your outside should work as hard and look as good as your inside.
